Feeling good, looking good.

For people in their 60s and beyond, proper dental care not only includes regular exams and cleanings, but usually some form of restorative work. This is also the stage in life where many patients choose to get cosmetic procedures, which can make them look younger and feel more confident.

In the last of my “age group” series, “Your Smile at 60+”, I focus on common concerns of patients this age, again showing what they must do, should do, and could do for their smile.

Restorative procedures, as I mentioned earlier, are often required as a patient gets older. Over the decades, dental work wears down. Old fillings and crowns can shift or crack, which can cause decay in the exposed areas. They should be replaced with modern composite materials, which are stronger and look more natural than metal.

The video covers options for replacing old dental work, as well as popular cosmetic procedures that fix chips, gaps, discoloration, and other problems, for a natural-looking, more youthful smile.

After age 60, many people need checkups more often (every three months instead of six). Most people this age have gum disease in some form, and it needs to be monitored. Screenings for oral cancer, bone loss, and other problems are also very important because risks increase with age.
