Since I started practicing in 1989, I have been constantly amazed at the new technology available to dentists like myself.
One of the latest and most exciting innovations is the CEREC® system, which allows us to create a crown from start to finish, right here in our office. My new video, “CEREC® ‘One Visit’ Crowns,” demonstrates this advanced technology and its advantages over traditional crowns.
Before CEREC®, getting a crown required two visits to the dentist. The first involved taking impressions and placing a temporary crown. The impressions were then sent to a lab, where the crown was manufactured. On the next visit, the temporary was removed, and the permanent crown was put in place.
This video shows how the CEREC® system, using sophisticated CAD-CAM technology, allows us to measure, fit, mill, and place the permanent crown in one appointment, with no need for an uncomfortable temporary crown.
In it, you’ll also see how the CEREC® machine mills the crown from a block of high-strength porcelain to your exact specifications. It’s an incredible process, made possible through state-of-the-art technology.
